How to build a material shortlist
Compare tone, pattern and context before narrowing the choice.
Begin with the room
List the surfaces that will stay: floor, wall colour, stone, metal and textiles. Choose two or three decor directions to compare against those elements, rather than selecting every finish in isolation.
Compare at the right scale
Use the full pattern and supplier application images together. Check the movement of the grain over a larger surface, then review a physical sample. Screen settings and room lighting can change the apparent colour.
Keep the choice traceable
Record the collection and decor code for each option. Add the intended use and questions for the branch so a similar-looking finish is not mistaken for the specified product.
- Collection and decor code
- Preferred finish and intended surface
- Physical sample and specification still to confirm
