European Beech
Pale, fine-grained and hard. The workshop's everyday hardwood.
Overview
Beech is straight-grained with a fine, even texture and a pale cream to pinkish-brown colour that darkens slightly with steaming. It machines, turns and bends exceptionally well and takes stain and finish evenly, which is why it is the default choice for chairs, furniture frames and worktops. It is not durable outdoors and moves with humidity, so it is an interior timber.
