Dabema
A heavy, strong hardwood for heavy carpentry, floors and stairs.
Overview
Dabema is a heavy West and Central African hardwood with a light to golden-brown heartwood and a marked interlocked grain that can show a ribbon figure on quarter-sawn faces. It is strong and moderately durable, used for heavy carpentry, industrial and vehicle flooring, indoor stairs and glulam, and in place of oak for some uses. It distorts as it dries, so quarter-sawn stock is preferred. The sawdust is very irritant, and damp wood smells of ammonia.
