Zebrano
Bold dark stripes on a light ground, for veneer, furniture and accents.
Overview
Zebrano, also sold as zingana, is a heavy hardwood from Cameroon and Gabon with a yellow-brown to light brown ground and dark brown stripes that give it its name. It is moderately durable and best kept indoors, where it is used mostly as sliced veneer, for high-end furniture, panelling and turned or small decorative pieces. It must be dried slowly, preferably quarter-sawn, to limit distortion, and its interlocked grain can tear, so plane with care and pre-drill before nailing or screwing.
